The Atlantic Contemporary Ballet Theatre’s intensive program is designed for the career minded student who wants to be competitive in the world of ballet. Fully certified high school level academics are included in this program. Students may also receive up to 12 college credits in affiliation with the Richard Stockton College of NJ. The academic school includes college preparatory courses with added SAT work on a daily basis. Those students wishing to complete high school early have the opportunity to complete their academics at an accelerated rate. When enough units have been met, a diploma is issued to the student. Phyllis Papa, director of both the Academy and the academic school, is also on faculty at the Richard Stockton College.
The students have two technique classes and pointe class everyday. Other classes include men’s class, adagio, variations, and other classes necessary for a career in ballet.
Students will learn how to prepare a budget for a ballet, the foundations of choreography, dance history, and will research companies for their future careers.
