Atlantic City Ballet
Atlantic Contemporary Ballet Theatre

 International Performing Arts Camp      2008
The Atlantic Contemporary Ballet Theatre is offering for the twenty fifth year, an eight week summer intensive dance camp. The  camp is open to  boarding and day students ages 10 through proffessional.

About The Camp
The ballet camper will study and apply the Russian Technique. The day begins with a two hour tech class with pointe. Ballet classes are taught by Artistic Director and International ballet Star Phyllis Papa and the professional staff of the Atlantic Contemporary Ballet Theatre. Guest teachers from The New York City Ballet and American Ballet Theatre & NYC Ballet are also members of the staff.

Placement into one of the levels of classes is determined by student technical ability, physical apptitude, strength, and effort.  Pointe work is similarly divided into levels according to student strength, ability and technique.  A dancer may be placed in level II pointe class but be placed in a level III technique class. Students in levels I and II work on gaining strength, line, turnout, and improvement in overall technique, as well as valuable lessons in performance preparation. Level  III and above concentrate on perfecting technique and developing artistry through an intensive full day of instruction.  Students are coached in preparation for a professional career in dance and are prepared to make that transition.  Students demonstrating technical readiness may be selected to dance with the company as an apprentice &/or be accepted into our winter intensive academic program.
ACBT offers college credit from the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey to those students who qualify. Email
acbt@acbt.org. for more information on  college credit.

What Makes ACBT Special
Each student receives a personalized, one-on-one evaluation with a faculty member.  This evaluation  identifies specific areas for improvement and provides professional guidance on exactly how to focus the student’s training in order to achieve improvement.  Students are encouraged to ask questions and are provided a written critique.

The Atlantic City Ballet's  professional company rehearses at the Acbt studio.  This enables summer camp students the opportunity to see the professional company in class and to also be partnered in pas de deux class with a professional dancer.

With the advantage of having an Olympic size swimming pool, students not only get to enjoy the pool during free times, they will also be able to participate in taking barre in the pool.

Students enrolled in session I or session II will perform at Keddedy Plaza on the boardwalk in Atlantic City at  6 PM on July 2nd and July 25th. Students will also perform for their parents at the end of the session.
